AdPurp Profiles: HaleyMikel P on Growing Up Overseas, the Importance of a Strong Company Culture, and Cultural Cooking
Hey, hello, hi, it’s Noelani popping in for a second to say that I’m thrilled to be back with another AdPurp employee profile. That’s right, it’s time for yet another round of fun questions, getting to know our team, and exploring what brought them to our company.
This time, though, let’s do something a little different. Let’s put the digital pen directly in the hand of HaleyMikel P, Content Manager and AdPurp’s newest addition to the content team. She’ll talk about her travels through Egypt and Sudan, growing up on the slopes, and a whole lot more.
Without further ado, let’s welcome HaleyMikel! You’ll be seeing her a lot around this blogosphere.

Okay, in this (semi) post-pandemic world, let’s not pretend that we haven’t all talked to ourselves a bit over the last year. We’ve FaceTimed, we’ve gone to small gatherings and lately, we’ve even gone to large ones. However, nothing compares to a good old-fashioned conversation with yourself.
So here we go again, I’ll be having a one-on-one, and this time you get to listen in!
I’m new around here, so I’ll start by introducing myself. My name is HaleyMikel, some would consider it to be a little bit of a mouthful so usually once we pass two or three interactions I start to get Haley or Hails. My parents are amazing people (actually, it was my mom’s birthday yesterday, shout out to you mom!) but together they didn’t agree on much—including my name—so I got two. But I digress.
I’ve just joined Advertise Purple as the newest member of the content team, and I’m so excited to be here.
Tell us about yourself. What’s your background, where are you from, etc.?
I grew up in Park City, Utah. Yes, I’m a big skier! Fun fact, Shaun White taught me how to snowboard (although I’m still no good).
My family also spent some time in Germany while I was growing up. Living there was an amazing, unique experience. Traveling between countries is very easy in Europe so I was able to gain a lot of cultural exposure that I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. I think it’s because of my time spent there that I’ve developed such a passion for exploring and learning. My most recent trip was this past December and January, which I spent in Egypt and Sudan.
After high school, I moved to NYC. I studied business law and communications before getting into branding and P.R. I stayed in New York for a few years before moving to the San Francisco area for a year and then here to LA, where I’ve been for close to four years and plan to stay for the foreseeable future.
That’s a lot of moving around. What does a typical day look like for you?
On any given day you can find me doing a multitude of things. I moved from West Hollywood to Marina del Rey recently, so I’ll wake up around 5 or 5:30 am, do a little run to the beach followed by a short meditation, and then run back. I’ll then either order breakfast from a greasy diner down the street, or stick to the chia seeds and tart cherry juice I’ve soaked the night before, and then jump into my day of work. I try to take advantage of living in sunny LA and lay by the pool for an hour at lunchtime cause, ya know, Vitamin D. And my evenings almost always consist of something a little social. Wine night, Taco Tuesday, or just trying one of the many yummy places in our city to eat. Going out to eat is a big hobby of mine and as a pescetarian in Los Angeles, there are plenty of options!
Okay, sounds like you like to eat. What other hobbies balance that out?
Haha yes, Haley. I do! I was a competitive ballet dancer growing up and throughout school. I’m a creature of habit and I still enjoy doing activities that allow me to tap into those movements. I take barre and pilates classes to give my muscles a similar experience, but I also love to enjoy the ample nature and hiking trails we have access to throughout the city.
On a different note, I’ve always loved museums and I’ve recently started to tap into the art scene in Downtown LA. If you know of any good shows coming up, let’s connect!
Switching gears, why are you so excited to work at Advertise Purple?
Wow, where to start! The positive press for AdPurp is overwhelming. I had heard of the company through others in the industry prior to becoming aware of an opening. The reputation for strong company culture and involvement in social issues along with the company’s skyrocketing and continued success as a whole makes it an ideal home for my passion.
In my personal life, it’s very important to me to advocate for equality across all forms and I participate in volunteering regularly. Advertise Purple shares support for causes I believe in and that’s meaningful to me.
In addition to that, affiliate marketing is the way of the future and in my opinion, the most successful form of marketing to utilize in today’s climate.
What were you doing before Advertise Purple?
My background has primarily occupied the spaces of sports and entertainment marketing. Throughout Covid and right before joining the team here, I formed an LLC and was doing marketing and branding consulting for various clients in the music and entertainment industries. Although I absolutely love the variety this brings, I’m very much looking forward to being a part of a team again.
Speaking of Covid, what has gotten you through it?
Well, as I mentioned, I’m a pretty social person. The first month or so was a little tough for me, but I adjusted! I formed a bubble of close friends that I would host game nights and other activities with. I learned new skills, like cooking traditional Portuguese and Norweigan dishes to try to connect more with my culture, dove much deeper into meditation, and listened to a ton of podcasts!

Well, I think that about wraps it up. Thank you for taking that journey of self-discovery with me, Haley.
Thank you, Haley. I’m looking forward to bringing my voice to Advertise Purple!
